From talk-show commentator to CEO of a ground-breaking media empire, speaker Arianna Huffington has worn more hats than most business leaders. Perhaps that is why her latest venture, Thrive Global, seeks to dispel the myth that we must court burnout before we truly succeed. Events focused on digital media, leadership, politics, or work-life balance enjoy Huffington’s sparkling, riveting keynote addresses.
One of the most influential voices in global media, speaker Arianna Huffington now helps fellow leaders achieve happiness and mindfulness. As a celebrated public speaker, Arianna Huffington draws on a legacy of innovation, leadership, and foresight.
When she founded the Huffington Post in 2005, Arianna Huffington established a new paradigm for reporting and reading the news. By 2011, the site launched Canadian and UK editions under the aegis of the Huffington Post Media Group. In 2012, the US version won its first Pulitzer Prize.
Huffington left her namesake publication in 2016 to found Thrive Global, of which she is the CEO. Thrive Global is a productivity and well-being platform dedicated to helping users achieve balance in their personal and professional lives.
Along the way, Huffington has written 15 books, including Thrive and Sleep Revolution, each of which furthers Thrive Global’s mission. Furthermore, each was an international bestseller immediately upon publication.
Huffington was born and raised in Greece, and moved to the UK to study at Cambridge. There, she became president of the Cambridge Union and also earned an MA in economics. Upon graduation, Huffington appeared frequently as a commentator on radio and television. She moved once again in 1980, this time to New York City, where she established herself as a writer and media personality before founding The Huffington Post.
In addition, her accomplishments led Time magazine to name Huffington one of the 100 most influential people on earth. She sits on the boards of several major companies, including Uber, Onex, and Global Citizen.
We are at an inflection point for leaders. But meeting the challenges of navigating the new normal isn’t just about looking out; it’s about looking in. What’s missing from our conversation is how leaders need to show up ready to lead from what is best, wisest, most creative and empathetic in them. If ever there was a moment demanding a new leadership playbook, this is it.
The tech advances of the last few years have turned the news and entertainment worlds on their ears, shifting the balance of power away from the media giants and to consumers—and citizens—empowering them to choose and create. Technology is having the same game-changing effect on the political world. In this lively presentation, Huffington, described by Fortune as one of the few people who “get” the Internet, discusses the latest online and social media trends—including how media companies are turning content promiscuity into profits—and reveals her vision of a hybrid future where traditional media and new media become one.
In an increasingly fast-paced and hyper-connected world, sleep deprivation has become a global epidemic, with devastating effects on our health, our performance and our relationships. In this talk, Arianna Huffington—New York Times best-selling author and president and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post Media Group—offers a sweeping exploration of sleep, from its rich history to the latest science, with an emphasis on how it can transform our lives. Through personal stories and specific, science-backed tips and recommendations, Huffington addresses the most critical issues with her audience: why we sleep, why we need it, what happens when we don’t get enough, and how to get more, so we can take control of our lives and live more fully.
